Is this why Deepika Padukone has not signed any new film?

Deepika Padukone is hot property in Bollywood. Her last film, Padmaavat, crossed the Rs 500-crore mark worldwide, but she is no hurry to sign any new projects. She was supposed to start shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's gangster drama, but the film was put on the backburner owing to her co-star Irrfan's health woes. The actress has no other films in her kitty.
Several theories are doing the rounds about why Deepika has not given her nod to any other film. While some are speculating that she wants to fully recover from her back and neck injury that was recently aggravated, others believe that she is keeping her dates free for her impending wedding with beau Ranveer Singh.
However, none of these theories are true, if a report in Deccan Chronicle is anything to go by. "Her back/neck problem is being properly attended to and she will be fine soon. As for marriage plans, they in no way impinge on her career. The reason Deepika is not signing anything new is because of the quality of roles coming her way," a source close to the actress told the publication.
Deepika is being approached for big-banner films opposite top actors. However, the source revealed that none of the offers are "even remotely as author-backed or inspiring as Padmaavat". She is eager to push the envelope and is no longer happy playing the "conventional leading lady".
Not just this, Deepika's hefty fee has proved to be a roadblock. It is no secret that she is the highest paid actress in Bollywood right now, and is unlikely to settle for lesser than she deserves. "She has gone on record to claim she was paid more than the leading man in Padmaavat. Big banners like Yash Raj Films and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions are not willing to pay her that kind of money," added the source.
